'I think we're going to take tomorrow'

In the bottom of the eighth inning, best friends Scott R. and his friend bought scalped tickets to Tuesday's World Series game.

The last time the Diamondbacks were in the World Series, 22 years ago in 2001, Scott and his father stood outside Chase Field (then called Bank One Ballpark) and scored a pair of scalped tickets.

Scott's luck came through again on Tuesday night and he called his 92-year-old father to tell him the exciting news.

"We've got tomorrow, that's why there are seven games," said an optimistic Scott. "I think we're gonna do great. We're behind a power curve, the whole season we've played better. We're gonna do fine and we've got tomorrow night at home. I think we're going to take tomorrow."

"It's a win-win for me," said Taylor.

Not feeling this World Series game? Try the Suns game next door

A father and son lamented the Diamondbacks' awful start Tuesday night at Willie's Taco Joint in downtown Phoenix.

Eric Lindholm thought pitcher Miguel Ángel Castro was a disaster, with the walks he gave up that resulted in Rangers runs early in the game.

"Obviously they have to win Game Five," Eric Lindholm said of the Rangers. "They haven't lost on the road so they must win Wednesday."

Despite the setbacks, son Will believed there was still enough time in tonight's game to make a comeback.

"There's still a lot of game left!" said Will Lindholm.

Despite Will's optimism, the pair purchased tickets to the Phoenix Suns basketball game happening Tuesday night at Footprint Center.

Texas food banks pull ahead of St. Mary's in donations after Game 3 win

The Texas Rangers' win on Monday in Game 3 resulted in a flurry of donations to two Dallas food banks that were in competition with St. Mary's Food Bank in Phoenix.

The competition is part of St. Mary's "Strike Out Hunger" campaign, which it started during the National League Championship Series. Last week, St. Mary's challenged Dallas-area food banks North Texas and Tarrant and invited fans to make monetary donations in the name of their teams to help feed families. For St. Mary's, donations can be made on its website (www.stmarysfoodbank.com).

The donations that came from the Rangers' win on Monday put the Dallas-area food banks ahead in the World Series Strike Out Hunger Challenge, according to Jerry Brown, spokesperson for St. Mary's. Brown asked that people continue to back the DBacks, who just sponsored a school pantry in south Phoenix on Monday, in order to help the food bank get ready for the holidays and to beat Texas.

During the National League Championship Series, more than $69,000 in donations were raised between St. Mary's and the Philabundance food bank, with $31,692 raised by St. Mary's side.
