World Trade Center Oculus evacuated after suspicious package found on PATH train

The World Trade Center Oculus was evacuated Tuesday as police investigated reports of a suspicious package on a PATH train, police said. The item was eventually found to be harmless.

Cops were called to the Oculus transportation hub in Lower Manhattan around 3:15 p.m. after a steam cooker was found in a a box in car of a PATH train, cops and sources said.

The investigation triggered evacuations and disruptions in transit service as the train sat in the station, officials said.

Police asked members of the public to avoid the Oculus while officers with the NYPD’s bomb squad investigated.

The unit determined the package wasn’t hazardous and both car and foot traffic resumed as normal around 4:10 p.m., the NYPD said.

Cops speculated the steam cooker came from a Lower Manhattan construction site to feed workers and it was accidentally left on the train.

PATH service was briefly suspended between Hoboken and the World Trade Center as cops investigated.
