For years, anthropologists have been scouring the earth for the world's most-perfect Chrysler Prowler. The retro design, the excitement, the underwhelming underpinnings, the available matching trailer, the weird rebranding after Plymouth collapsed: the Chrysler Prowler is a time capsule of the optimism and failures of the early 2000s. Today, that search ends, because I've found the cleanest Prowler for sale right now.

Welcome to You Must Buy, our daily look at the cars you really should be buying instead of that boring commuter sedan.

Over two decades, this Prowler has traveled just 1658 miles. No doubt most of those were to car shows where the owner sat in a lawn chair, a miniature Prowler proudly shown next to their car-specific poster-board display.

Its bubbly interior is completely flawless, with prominent rounded gauges flanked by pristine black plastic. There are no rips or tears in the leather, while the black dash panels remain uncracked. The 3.5-liter V-6, in all its mediocre glory, also appears to be immaculate, with no current problems to speak of.

Plus, it's a 1-of-1281 Mulholland Edition. That means the immaculate body is painted in Prowler Midnight Blue, with a factory hand-painted pinstripe and a blue top. Wheels are bright and contrasting chrome.

It's too perfect to be cheap, but for $36,995 there's no better way to commemorate the retro-crazed, strange cars America was building in the early 2000s.
