Worlds of Fun sets opening date, plans new events for 2024

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Worlds of Fun is planning several new events for the 2024 season and is also reversing a policy change for one popular attraction.

The park will open on May 4, and Oceans of Fun will open for the summer on Saturday, May 25.

Chiefs to share Arrowhead Stadium renovation plans this week

This is Worlds of Fun’s 51st season. The park will also celebrate the 35th anniversary of the Timber Wolf roller coaster on May 25-26 and the 15th anniversary of the Prowler on June 22-23. Both weekends will include limited-edition merchandise, special food and more.

Worlds of Fun also announced it will no longer require a separate ticket for Halloween Haunt in the fall, like it did last year. Guests will be able to stay in the park from day to night and visit the horror fest.

This season, the park will add new family-focused events, including KC Summer Nights, a summer festival paying tribute to Kansas City, and KidZfest, an event for the whole family to attend.

Here are the details for the new events:

KidZfest: June 1-16 (Saturdays & Sundays)

There will be dance parties, treats, kid-friendly rides, and interactive games and activities. There will be live entertainment from the Marvelous Mutts dog stunt show and Mr. Stinky Feet.

Star-Spangled Night: July 4

The holiday event will also feature a fireworks display synchronized to patriotic music.

KC Nights: July 13-28 (Saturdays & Sundays)

Worlds of Fun said KC Nights will be the ultimate Kansas City summer party that keeps the excitement high as the sun goes down every Saturday and Sunday from July 13-28.

KC Nights will have Kansas City-style food, live jazz bands and local musicians. KC Nights at Worlds of Fun is a celebration of KC culture.

Tricks and Treats: Weekends in the fall (September-October)

New in 2024, Tricks and Treats will offer spooky daytime fun starting Saturday, Sept. 14.

There will be goblins to grown-up ghouls, with ghoulish activities, eerie live shows, and seasonal treats.
