Worldwide market share for tablets, a market dominated by Apple and Samsung

Research firm IDC says there were 45.1 million tablet computers shipped during the April-June quarter, an increase of 60 percent from a year earlier, but down 10 percent from the first three months of 2013. Here are IDC's figures for worldwide tablet unit shipments and market share in the second quarter of 2013.

— Apple Inc., 14.6 million units, 32.4 percent share (60.3 percent share a year earlier, 14.1 percent decrease)

— Samsung Electronics Co., 8.1 million units, 18 percent share (7.6 percent share a year earlier, nearly fourfold increase)

— AsusTek Computer Inc., 2.0 million units, 4.5 percent share (3.3 percent share a year earlier, more than double)

— Lenovo Group, 1.5 million units, 3.3 percent share (1.3 percent share a year earlier, more than fourfold increase)

— Acer Inc., 1.4 million units, 3.1 percent share (1.4 percent share a year earlier, about 3.5 times more)

— Other, 17.5 million units, 38.8 percent share (26.2 percent share a year earlier, more than double)
