Worried about your UPS package after Lakewood fire? Here’s what to do

LAKEWOOD - UPS has provided a website and telephone number for those who may be concerned about whether their package was lost in this week’s fire at its center on Vassar Avenue.

Customers can visit the company’s Customer Help and Support Center online at www.ups.com/us/en/support/tracking-support.page? or call 888-742-5877 with questions about the status of a delivery.

At least six trailers and the building caught on fire Wednesday evening, but the conflagration was quickly brought under control by firefighters, according to police.

The company has said the complex was evacuated during the blaze and employees would return to work when conditions were safe. There was no further information on Thursday about the extent of the damage to the site.

Authorities have not released information about the cause of the fire.

The incident came little more than 24 hours after a U.S. Postal Service truck went up in flames while making deliveries Tuesday in the South Seaside Park section of Berkeley on Ocean County’s northern barrier island.
