This is the worst flight comparison website, according to Which?

  • Which? has revealed the worst flight comparison website, with users complaining of poor functionality and high prices.

  • The consumer association asked more than 2,200 travellers to rate their experiences using nine holiday comparison sites, eventually ranking them from best to worst.

Everybody wants to save money on their holidays, don't they? Whether it's the travel essentials or the hotel; the summer wardrobe or the flights, if there's a saving to be made, we're keen to know about it.

Which is why comparison websites are so useful, because they give you the opportunity to see what's out there, and compare different deals all in one place.

But actually, a new Which? survey of travel comparison sites says not all marketplaces are equal. The association asked 2,200 travellers to rate their experiences with nine holiday comparison sites from the last two years in a range of categories, such as price, user-friendliness and market coverage.

Of the nine comparison sites, GoCompare was ranked the worst with a customer satisfaction score of only 45%. Users blamed functionality issues and high prices for this low ranking.

Meanwhile, Skyscanner came out on top of the comparison, receiving an overall customer ranking of 69%, with users praising the low prices and relevance of search results.

  7. TravelSupermarket - 49% overall customer satisfaction

  8. CheapFlights - 47% overall customer satisfaction

  9. GoCompare - 45% overall customer satisfaction

In response to the ranking, Lee Griffin, CEO and founder of GoCompare, said:

"Our priority is to provide our customers with the best products and prices we can and we take these responsibilities very seriously, whether through our own insurance comparison services or those supplied to us by third parties. We are constantly striving to improve our comparison services and this being said, we had already placed our travel comparison site under review.

"However, following the recent Which? survey of travel comparison services, we have taken the decision to bring the review forward and have terminated the relationship with the third-party supplier and removed their holiday comparison service from the website, with immediate effect. We are working to bring a new supplier on board who can apply the high quality of service people are accustomed to from GoCompare with a new holiday comparison offering. We can also confirm that we will be continuing our longstanding partnership with Skyscanner, which came out top in Which?’s recent research, to power our flights comparison service."
