Wrestling Roundup: Scores and Recaps for Hillsdale, Jonesville, and Reading

It was Senior Night at Hillsdale High School for the Hillsdale wrestling program as they hosted a quad meet. Reading and Jonesville faced off in Quincy during a battle between Big 8 schools. Here are recaps of wrestling action for all three schools from Wednesday night's duals.

Hillsdale Hosts a Quad Meet on Senior Night

The Hillsdale varsity wrestling team, led by head coach Nate Spieth, hosted a quad meet on Senior Night for the wrestlers. Hillsdale would face off against Clinton and Dansville, and would go 1-1 overall for the night.

The Hornets first took on Division 3 No. 2 ranked Clinton High School. The Hornets had a couple individual wins led by Seniors Emmett Woodcox and Logan Horn. Sophomore Stephen Petersen would also win his match. Clinton would win the match with a final team total of 64-18.

Next up for the Hornets was Dansville. Dansville and the Hornets would battle back-and-forth. The Hornets would come out on top with a final score of 33-27. Getting wins for the Hornets were Logan Horn, Quade Mesarosh, Brodie Spratt, Jordan Barnes Emmett Woodcox, Jace Ringman, and Stephen Petersen.

The Hornets were joined by their parents during intermission for the Senior honors. Coach Spieth thanks all the Seniors and their parents for the hard work and dedication. This year’s Seniors include Logan Horn, Quade Mesarosh , Brodie Spratt, Emmett Woodcox, and Carson Loader.

The Hornets will be back in action on Saturday as they travel to Grass Lake for another invitational tournament.

Jonesville and Reading Face off at Quincy Quad Meet

The Jonesville and Reading varsity wrestling programs would square off in a dual at the Quincy Big 8 Quad Meet on Wednesday night. The Comets and the Rangers would battle it out in a dual that saw Jonesville walk away with a 42-38 victory. Winning matches for the Rangers were Lukas Selph who defeated Tyler Milks. Addison Mosley got a void win. Jeremiah Bedford pinned Jonesville Comet Carson Playford. Lucas Strine pinned Comet Ben Colbart. Eathan Westfall got a void. Kutter Vanaken pinned Comet Gene Wagner. Hunter Dewey defeated Comet Max Smith.

Winning matches for Jonesville were Derek Ballinger who got a void win. Fisher Potts pinned Ranger Levi Shultz. Austin Bowers pinned Ranger Joey Campbell. Isaac Shively pinned Ranger Donivon Dangerfield. Evan McColley pinned Ranger Caleb Willoughby. Alex Pickford got a void. Cody Nichols pinned Ranger Aiden Aemisegger.

Reading would go on to face Homer in their next dual. Reading would defeat Homer 48-31 to win the dual. Winning matches for Reading include Lukas Selph, Jeremiah Bedford, Joey Campbell, Lucas Strine, Caleb Willoughby, Eathan Westfall, and Lucas Roads. Hunter Dewey received a void win.

Jonesville faced Quincy next and defeated the Orioles by a final score of 47-25. Winning matches for Jonesville were Tyler Milks, Carson Playford, Derek Ballinger, Austin Bowers, Evan MColley, Alex Pickford, Cody Nichols, and Gene Wagner.

Reading wrestling, led by head coach Mark Draper, will be back in action this Saturday at the Todd Stern Blackhawk Invitational. The Invitational will be held at Leslie High School, and starts at 9:00 a.m. Jonesville wrestling, led by head coach Carter Ballinger, will also be at the same Invitational event.
