Wrestling: Vote now for lohud Wrestler of the Week (Dec. 12-18)

After an action-packed week on the mats, it's time to look at the top standout performers from Westchester, Rockland and Putnam.

We would like you, the reader, to survey our 11 Wrestler of the Week finalists and cast your vote. The wrestlers' credentials are listed above the fan poll — which will be live until 1:30 p.m. Tuesday. The winner will be announced on lohud social media accounts on Tuesday night.

Scoreboard: Section 1 Dual Meet Tournament, other meet results for Dec. 12-18

Ryan Ball, Somers/North Salem

The Tusker freshman steamrolled the opposition in a busy week, where he went 9-0. He picked up four wins at the Section 1 Dual Meet Tournament, where he got three first-period pins and a technical fall. He also went unbeaten at the Conklin Memorial Duals, where he picked up three wins by pinfall and another two by forfeit.

Gabriel Camillieri, Croton-Harmon

A first-year wrestler, the Croton senior is picking up the sport just fine. He pinned all of his opponents to a 6-0 showing and took first-place in the 189-pound division of the Pawling tournament.

Greg Casvikes, Clarkstown South

The senior 145-pounder went 6-0 this past week, recording wins over Byram Hills/Briarcliff/Valhalla/Westlake, North Rockland, Maine-Endwell, Plainedge, Washingtonville and Brooklyn Tech.

Luke Flanagan, Nanuet

The Golden Knights senior went a perfect 5-0, with five wins by pinfall. His week was highlighted by a pin over Section 9 all-section wrestler Cole Nelson of Red Hook, who Flanagan defeated in the second period.

Justin Gierum, Fox Lane

The Foxes' senior standout went 6-0 this past week to continue his unbeaten start. He pinned five of his opponents in the first period, then outlasted Pleasantville's returning all-section wrestler Luke LaMagna in a one-point decision duel.

Rowan Larsen, Yorktown

He hasn't lost a match at 110 pounds yet, and he came through in the clutch during the Section 1 Dual Meet Tournament quarterfinals, pinning Suffern's Bobby Brophy to complete a 17-point comeback for the Huskers and punch their ticket to the Division I Dual Meet Tournament final four. He also recorded a major decision win in the round of 16 before that.

Kyle Peske, Hen Hud

He enjoyed an impressive 7-0 stretch that began with a technical fall and a pin in the Section 1 Division II Dual Meet Tournament. Then, he followed up with an unbeaten showing at the Carlucci Duals, where he tallied three pins, a major decision, and decision.

Joe Ramirez, Mahopac

The Mahopac senior enjoyed a 6-0 week, where he picked up two wins at the Section 1 Dual Meet Tournament, then went 4-0 at the Kings Park Classic. All in all, he recorded three pins, two decision wins and a forfeit.

Ian Sutherland, Brewster

He racked up a 7-0 record this past week to continue his undefeated season. Sutherland got two wins in the Section 1 Dual Meet Tournament, which included a 6-0 win over Clarkstown North's Matt Cortelli, then went on to go 5-0 at the Lewis Johnson Duals, where he pinned all five opponents, including four in the first period.

Sam Szerlip, Nyack

After getting sidelined last season with an injury, Szerlip continues his strong bounce-back season with another impressive week. He went 6-0, recording three wins by pinfall, two technical falls and one win by forfeit.

DeAndre Woods, New Rochelle

His strong start to his senior season continued with a 5-0 showing at the Clarkstown North Duals over the weekend, where he pinned every opponent and improved to 11-0 on the year. He was the top individual place-finisher at 215 pounds for the tournament.
