Write to know: Seeking help with indoor garden

Couple seeks grow lights for indoor garden

Dear Write to Know: We are an elderly couple on a fixed income, so we have to stretch our food dollars each month. We want to supplement our limited food budget this winter by growing some nutrient dense healthy herbs, cherry tomatoes, baby lettuce, etc. We need grow lights or grow kits. Any indoor gardening items would be so very appreciated, as food, especially healthy food, has skyrocketed in price these days. Cell: 508-274-4116. Text only, please. Thank you.

L.L., Mashpee

Dear L.L.: We hope our generous readers can help you out. Thanks for providing your contact information.

Homeless reader seeks help with renovation

Dear Write to Know: I desperately need help! I lost my lifelong home to a reverse mortgage two years ago and have been homeless since. My aunt has a cottage in her back yard that needs to be remodeled and she gave me permission to live in it if this can be done. The trouble is, we are all poor and cannot afford to do it and it is not livable the way it is. There is no housing available in Provincetown where I live, especially one that will take me and my four rescue cats. This is my only opportunity for housing and winter is coming. Does anyone know of any place or organization that will do free remodeling or could help fund this project? We need help. I am desperate and have tried everything. Phone: 703-943-9689.

P.N., Provincetown

Dear P.N.: If you can find a business or organization to help you, you can apply to the Needy Fund for help. Applicants submit their need to the Needy Fund, which in turn pays for the goods or services — a heating bill, for example — through a voucher system. Donations, which are tax deductible, may be made at needyfund.org. Checks can be made payable to the Cape Cod Times Needy Fund and mailed to Cape Cod Times Needy Fund, P.O. Box 36, Hyannis, MA 02601. Those needing assistance may contact the Needy Fund at 508-778-5661 or 800-422-1446.

We also hope you get some calls from our readers who might be able to help you out. Best of luck!
