WSCA to host 'Keep Local Radio Alive!' benefit Oct. 27 at 3S Artspace

PORTSMOUTH - On Thursday, Oct. 27, WSCA will bring its “broadcast” to the stage of 3S Artspace for an evening of food, fun, entertainment, dancing, laughs, and live music, all in the spirit of keeping the station afloat as it navigate its current operative landscape.

Slated performers include comedian Lloyd Legacy Sharp and music from Elvish Presley (think Soggy Po’ Boys Stu Dias, as, well… yeah, it’s obvious). In the words of Stu, “Elvish Presley plays traditional jazz. With a sound as classic as the elves and the Sagas of Iceland and as modern as the King himself, be prepared to hear some swinging early American music!”

Portsmouth community radio station WSCA will hold a fundraiser night of entertainment at 3S Artspace in Portsmouth on Thursday, Oct. 27.

The event will also feature door prizes, and a silent auction with autographed music and sports memorabilia items, alongside those from local artists, businesses, and more.

Since 2004, WSCA has seen steady growth and always been a community first organization with the mission of serving the Greater Seacoast area. Run by a diverse and dedicated group of residents, 106.1 WSCA-LP Portsmouth Community Radio is an outlet for many voices, showcasing a wide variety of interests and offerings and fosters a vital environment for Seacoast artists and arts organizations as well as enhancing cultural opportunities for residents and visitors.

WSCA was granted use of the space as the recipient of the 3S Artspace “Community Use” Grant. The grant was developed in 2020 by 3S Artspace in direct response to the persisting challenges non-profits face in reaching their audience and mission goals, particularly during the pandemic. Sponsors for the event thus far include 3S, and hint water. If you’re interested in becoming a sponsor, reach out to Matt at matt@wscafm.org.
