WSCR-AM 670 to use Matt Spiegel and Leila Rahimi as co-hosts with Danny Parkins while plotting a post-Dan McNeil path

WSCR-AM 670 will experiment with co-host combinations for Danny Parkins including both Matt Spiegel and Leila Rahimi over the next two weeks in the aftermath of Dan McNeil’s ouster.

McNeil was removed Tuesday as Parkins' 2-6 p.m. co-host after a tweet the night before about ESPN’s Maria Taylor that management of the Entercom Communications sports-talk station deemed “degrading and humiliating.”

Parkins, who finished the week working solo, will be joined by Spiegel on Monday though Wednesday this week and next.

Rahimi, the former NBC Sports Chicago host who was added as Dan Bernstein’s weekly 9 a.m.-noon partner on Wednesdays last week, will work alongside Parkins on Thursday and Friday this week.

Next week, both Rahimi and Spiegel will team with Parkins on Thursday and Friday.

The memo to staff from Mitch Rosen, WSCR’s brand manager, outlining the temporary moves did not spell out a plan beyond Oct. 2.

Spiegel was Parkins' mid-morning partner until a 2018 shake-up at WSCR that returned McNeil to the station for a third time knocked him out of the weekday lineup. He has been a fill-in and weekend host in the interim.

Rahimi had been with NBC Sports Chicago since 2015, most recently serving as host of its “Baseball Night in Chicago” program as well as White Sox pregame and postgame coverage, but lost her TV job last month in a cost-cutting purge.
