WSL Championship Tour leader Toledo advances to final round at Surf Ranch

STORY: Brazilian Championship Tour leader Filipe Toledo put himself in position for a win at the World Surf League Freshwater Pro with a strong showing Friday (September 20) on day two at the Surf Ranch wavepool.

Toledo scored 9.27 and 6.80 on his two best rides to finish with a score of 16.07 (out of 20) and move into second place behind countryman Gabriel Medina, who finished with a day two best score of 17.77.

South African Jordy Smith, who sits in second place behind Toledo on the overall CT standings, moved into fourth place with his total of 15.90. Only the top eight surfers after the first two days of competition advance to the final day.

The Freshwater Pro is the eighth stop of eleven men's CT scoring events.
