WT ROUNDUP: Volleyball moves up to 12th in the nation

The WT volleyball program ended he season ranked No. 16 in the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division II Top-25 Poll announced Tuesday.

The Lady Buffs volleyball team has moved up two spots in the national rankings following an outstanding performance to start the year. West Texas A&M is now ranked 12th in Division II in the American Volleyball Coaches Association poll.

It's well earned. The Lady Buffs are off to a 3-1 start with wins over Adams State, UCCS, and St. Mary's. Their lone loss was to nationally ranked Northwest Missouri State.

WT returns to action Friday in Denver to compete in the 2022 Colorado Premier.

Women's soccer readies for Fort Lewis

It's only been two games, but the Lady Buffs are living up to the hype so far.

WT is 2-0 following a 3-0 win over Emporia State and another 3-0 win over Adams State. Preseason Lone Star Conference Player of the year Asha James has three goals in the pair of shutout victories while keeper Reagan Heelan has a clean sheet on the young season.

WT is next set to play Fort Lewis College on Friday. WT is 9-1 all time against Fort Lewis College, including a 4-1 victory in 2021.

Men's soccer ready to visit Western Washington

The 17th ranked Buffs are hitting the road to take on Western Washington after opening the season with a 1-1 draw against St. Mary's. WT has faced Western Washington three times before and won twice, including the last meeting in 2019.

WT outshot St. Mary's 20-10 in the first game including an 8-4 advantage on shots on goal.

Both cross country teams nationally ranked

The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association are expecting big things from WT cross country this season.

The men's cross country team has been ranked 23rd in all of Division II while the women have been ranked 29th. Both teams will open the season in Abilene on Friday.
