The Chinese city of Wuhan, where coronavirus was first detected, ordered the mass testing of all 12 million of its residents on August 3 after multiple cases of coronavirus were detected in the city.

The city expected to finish the testing in four days, according to news reports.

China announced 80 new locally-transmitted cases on August 6, 61 of which were in Jiangsu province while six were found in Hubei province, where Wuhan is located.

Cases of the delta variant of coronavirus had been detected in recent weeks in other parts of China, including in the cities of Nanjing and Zhengzhou.
