WWE Smackdown Live Open Discussion Thread 7/26/16

Tonight, on the With Spandex WWE Smackdown Live open discussion thread:

A true New Era dawns on SmackDown Live tonight!

In the wake of Dean Ambrose’s incredible WWE Title victory in a furious Triple Threat Match at WWE Battleground, SmackDown Live prepares to take the WWE Universe by storm!

Our five-point preview:

1. Last night’s Raw created a bold new look and direction that shocked and delighted fans. If the Blue Brand — the show run by frigging Shane McMahon and Daniel Bryan — can’t follow suit, that’s gonna spell curtains. What will the show look and feel like? What will the focus be on? With the bar set so high by Raw, we’re anxious to find out.

2. There are five — FIVE — NXT call-ups who could potentially debut tonight. While we’re all hoping for an American Alpha showcase match, the real story is what will happen when the Hype Bros run afoul of a Bulgarian? Oh wait, Rusev is on Raw. I guess that Battleground tease from Sunday will never have a payoff! Whoops whoops whups oh no [falls down stairs]

3. The “real” WWE Champion is now exclusive to Smackdown, so he needs a new challenger to step up. Expect there to be matches with No. 1 contender implications involved. Or … y’know … just name AJ Styles the No. 1 contender.

4. Randy Orton is back! Will he continue his burgeoning feud with Chris Jericho? Will he clash with one of these hot new stars, like Baron Corbin? Stay tuned tonight, when he wrestles John Cena, probably!

5. Smackdown Live has the Intercontinental title and the WWE Championship, but they don’t appear to have tag team titles. Maybe we’ll have some cool new championships teased tonight, like Raw did.
