How Wyandotte County residents can appeal upcoming property valuations

KANSAS CITY, Kan. — Property owners in Wyandotte County will begin receiving their property valuation notice in the mail starting at the beginning of March.

The Appraiser’s Office is required to value property at a fair market value as of January 1 of each year with exception of agricultural land, which is valued by its agricultural use.

Limited supply and strong demand for commercial and residential properties caused increases in sales prices from the prior year, resulting in an increase in county appraised values, according to the Appraiser’s Office at the Unified Government.

Those that don’t agree with the appraised value of their residential or commercial property or simply wants to review the information on file can file an appeal with the Office of the Appraiser by March 30, 2024.
