Wyckoff Township Committee member resigns after one year in office

WYCKOFF — Committeeman Scott Fisher resigned his seat Saturday after a year on the township's governing body.

The resignation of the former public works manager from the Township Committee was announced by Administrator Matthew Cavallo.

On Tuesday, Fisher said that "due to recent family matters," he and his wife decided to sell their home in Wyckoff.

Fisher was appointed last January to fill out the remaining year of the second term of Committeewoman Melissa Rubenstein. Fisher ran unopposed in November with fellow Committeeman Peter Melchionne for a new three-year term.

The head of the township's Republican Committee, Drita McNamara, could not be reached for comment, but Cavallo said the township has 15 days to present three candidates to the Township Committee, which in turn has 30 days to select a new member. That person serves until the next election, when interested candidates can run for the remainder of the three-year term.
