Five of 6 incumbents file for Abilene, Wylie ISD trustee elections

All three incumbents for the Wylie ISD board of trustees and at least two for the Abilene ISD board have filed for re-election.

Filing opened Wednesday and continues through Feb. 18.

Election day for both districts is May 7.

Wylie ISD

There will be at least one contested race, with two filing for Place 2.

Filing for Wylie ISD, according to the school district, were:

► Place 1, Chris McCurley, first elected in 2015. He is the current board vice president.

► Place 2, Mike Awtry, first elected in 2014. He is the board secretary; Derrick Long, a 12-year resident of the WISD with three children in Wylie schools. His occupation is listed as real estate.

► Place 3, Miller Loudermilk, elected in 2019.

WISD board terms are for three years.

Abilene ISD

For the Abilene ISD board, terms for Place 4 (Cindy Earles), Place 5 (Dr. Danny Wheat) and Place 6 (Bill Enriquez) end in May.

► Place 4, Earles, first elected in 2014. She is the board vice president.

► Place 6, Enriquez, appointed to the board in January 2017 and elected in 2018. He is the board secretary.

AISD board terms are for four years.
