Wyoming County woman pleads guilty to burglary and grand larceny

WYOMING COUNTY, WV (WVNS) — A woman from the Bud area of Wyoming County was convicted of burglary and grand larceny.

On March 11, 2024, 44-year-old Leanna Carol Mills, of Bud, pleaded guilty to burglary and grand larceny.

Wyoming County man sentenced for felony drug crime

Corporal M.C. Shifflette of the West Virginia State Police arrived on the scene of a copper theft in Basin, West Virginia on August 2, 2023. During the following investigation, it was discovered that around 400 feet of copper that gave power to a water pump was cut and stolen by Mills and a codefendant.

In Herndon, West Virginia on February 7, 2024, Sergeant Matt Lane of the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office investigated a burglary complaint. An investigation showed that Mills demanded money after breaking her way into a person’s house. Mills proceeded to attack and choke the person when they would not give her money.

These crimes will not be tolerated in Wyoming County. The physical assault in a private residence is particularly troubling. Our citizens must feel safe and secure within their homes. We will prosecute these crimes to the fullest extent of the law.

Search warrants in Mercer County result in the seizure of large amounts of drugs and other items

Bishop praised Assistant Prosecutor Derek Laxton, the entire prosecutor’s staff, Corporal M.C. Shifflette from the WV State Police, and Sergeant Matt Lane of the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office for their work on the investigation.

The superb investigations conducted by these lawmen directly resulted in our securing felony convictions in this case.
