Wyomissing church to present gospel concert [Religion Digest]

Oct. 15----Kissinger's Church, 715 Berkshire Blvd., Wyomissing, will have a gospel concert featuring Jeff Krick Sr. on Sunday at 4 p.m. Doors open at 3. Donations will be accepted. A portion of the proceeds benefit the Mike Krisher Fund. There will be an Hour of Prayer on Wednesday at 4 p.m. The public is invited to attend to submit prayer requests and to pray for others.

—Lighthouse Christian Center, 37 S. Fifth St., Reading, is having an appreciation meal for its senior pastor, S.R. Behm, on Sunday after the 10 a.m. worship service.

—Christ Lutheran Church, 222 Niantic Road, Barto, will worship on Sunday at 9 a.m. Quilts made by the congregation will be blessed. Confirmation class will be held at 10 a.m. in room I and adult Sunday/Bible class will be at 10 a.m. in the parlor.

—The United Church of Christ in Robesonia will worship at 301 W. Penn Ave. at 10:15 a.m. on Sunday by YouTube, in person, by Facebook and by telephone. The two congregations will be voting on a name for the proposed new congregation. Covenant Association Pastors will meet for lunch on Tuesday. Oktoberfest will be held next Saturday at the church from noon to 6 p.m. Features will be a tethered hot-air balloon from 5-6, crafts for children and young people, music, a prayer tent, beer and wine and food. Donations are being received to buy gifts for active military members in honor of Veterans Day. —Reformation Lutheran Church, 3670 Perkiomen Ave., Exeter Township, will worship Sunday at 8:30 a.m. Sunday school for all ages is at 9:30. There will be a hybrid worship service at 10:30 with Holy Communion and the Reformation Choir. —St. John's Gernant's Church (A Federated Congregation), 13 Gernant's Church Road, Ontelaunee Township, will worship Sunday at 9:30 a.m. Animals can be brought to be blessed for Creation Sunday. —St. John's Lutheran Church, 4125 Penn Ave., Sinking Spring, will hold in-person worship Sunday at 9 a.m., with Holy Communion and special music. Masks are optional. —Friedens United Church of Christ. 337 Main St., Oley, will hold an in-person service Sunday at 10:15 a.m. that also is available via Zoom and YouTube. The Mission Team continues its Oley Valley Food Pantry collections with the focus on canned tuna and any pasta. Donations can be brought to church any Sunday or dropped off at a drop-off collection today from 9-11 a.m. Animals also will be blessed at that time. The Mission Team will be holding a Tex-Mex Fiesta Night next Saturday from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. with food, music, games and line dancing with Dixie Lynn. —Bethany Lutheran Church, 336 Franklin St., West Reading will welcome Northeastern Pennsylvania Synod Bishop Chris deForest to worship on Sunday at 9:30 a.m. as part of the congregation's 125th anniversary celebration. Robin Laser Gross will share a family story of the congregation's beginnings as a Sunday school. DeForest will share some ministry thoughts with the adult Bible class at 9.

—Christ Episcopal Church, 435 Court St., Reading, will present "Shroud Encounter" today at 4 p.m. It's a free big-screen event that explores the mystery, lore and science behind the Shroud of Turin. Masks are optional. Parking is available at the Abe Lincoln Hotel Parking garage and the M&T Bank lot, both located off of Washington St. Parking is also available beside the church on Court Street for those with disabilities or who need assistance. There is an elevator to the second-floor sanctuary. On Sunday morning, there will be two worship services, both including Holy Eucharist: at 8, a said service (no music); and at 9:30, a service with music that welcomes families with young children.
