Ever since Disney merged with Fox, there's been talk about the potential for an MCU/X-Men crossover.

And with the release of X-Men: Dark Phoenix, which may be the end of this current incarnation of the X-Men franchise, the time could be right to bring the characters into the MCU, especially after the events of Endgame.

And the cast of Dark Phoenix seem more than willing to play these characters again, if an MCU crossover should happen.

When asked if she thought this was the last time she'd play Storm, actress Alexandra Shipp told Digital Spy: "I don't think that it is. I think there will be a moment, that we will do a cameo at the least.

"I mean these characters are so cool, these movies are so poignant especially within the Marvel Comic Universe that I think it would be a shame."

Sophie Turner, who plays Jean Grey (aka Phoenix), also hasn't said goodbye to the character for good.

"When we were filming it, I don't think it felt like this is the last time we'll ever be here," she said.

But co-stars Michael Fassbender and James McAvoy, who play Magneto and Professor X, felt more like it could be the end of the road.

When asked if it felt like the last time they were going to play these characters they both answered: "It kinda does."

"It's always sad when you wrap one of your movies," McAvoy continued. "But it's always sad to finish this one. It's a great crew, it's a great bunch of actors, it's a great director, it's a great producer.

"We are friends, we do feel more like a family than colleagues at times and that's always sad. But in terms of because it feels like the last one that was no sadder."

X-Men: Dark Phoenix is released in UK cinemas on June 5 and US cinemas on June 7.
