Xavier transfer Cesare Edwards to join Missouri State basketball

Xavier transfer Cesare Edwards announced Thursday afternoon that he will transfer to play basketball at Missouri State.

Edwards joined Saint Louis guard Nick Kramer to announce their move to play for the Bears within a span of minutes. The two are the first players to commit to playing at MSU in nearly a year.

Edwards is a 6-foot-9, 225-pound forward from Hartsville, South Carolina. He played in 23 games for Xavier this past season which included a career-high 18 minutes in the Big East Championship game against Marquette. He averaged 2.3 points and two boards in an average of seven minutes per appearance over his two-year Xavier career.

Out of high school, Edwards scored over 1,000 points and 800 career rebounds. As a senior, he averaged 17.2 points, two assists and three blocks per game and was his region's co-player of the year.

Edwards was a four-star recruit out of high school and was ranked as the No. 121 player in the nation, according to 247Sports' Composite Ranking. He held offers from Clemson, Florida, Florida State, South Carolina, Texas A&M, VCU, Iowa State, Ole Miss and others.
