Thousands of people gathered for a second day in Yangon, Myanmar, on Sunday, February 7, to take part in a civil disobedience campaign in protest over the military takeover of Myanmar.

Demonstrators called for the release of ousted leader Aung San Suu Kyi and other elected officials. Many held pictures of Suu Kyi and wore red, the color of her party, the National League for Democracy.

The country’s military announced that it had seized power on February 1, following its allegations of voting irregularities in a November election won by the National League for Democracy. Election observers have said they had not detected major irregularities in the vote. Credit: Marimo Linn via Storyful
