Yankees' Aaron Judge Ties Roger Maris's Record With 61st Home Run of Season

The New York Yankees’ Aaron Judge hit his 61st home run of the current Major League Baseball season on Wednesday, September 28, tying a 61-year-old record set by fellow Bronx Bomber Roger Maris.

Judge, who hadn’t hit a home run in seven games, hit a two-run home run over the Rogers Centre’s left-field fence on a 94.5 mph sinker from Toronto Blue Jays’ Tim Mayza. It helped the Yankees secure an 8-3 win.

Judge’s shot drew him level with Maris’s American League record of 61 home runs in a single season, set in 1961. Maris broke fellow Yankee Babe Ruth’s record, which dated to 1927. Credit: @pucksindeep41 via Storyful
