Yankees infielder DJ LeMahieu recently had surgery to repair the sports hernia that kept him out for the end of the regular season and the Wild Card game.

Per GM Brian Cashman, the recovery for LeMahieu will be roughly eight weeks, and he is expected to be ready for spring training.

When being placed on the IL before Game 162 this season, LeMahieu received a cortisone injection to see how the injury would respond.

LeMahieu, 33, had a down year in 2021, slashing just .268/.349/.362 with 10 homers in 150 games after being one of the best hitters in baseball during his first two seasons in the Bronx.

He is under contract through the 2026 season, earning $15 million annually.

TAILLON TO HAVE ANKLE SURGERY, WITH FIVE-MONTH RECOVERY

Jameson Taillon, who pitched through a tendon injury in his ankle late during the 2021 season, will have surgery on the injury on Oct. 28.

Per Cashman, the recovery time for Taillon to be baseball-ready is five months.

That would take him to the end of March, which makes it hard to see Taillon being ready for the start of the regular season.

UPDATES ON HICKS AND FRAZIER

Aaron Hicks, who missed most of the season due to a wrist injury, is almost recovered and could play winter ball.

Clint Frazier, who recently tweeted about "inaccurate things reported" as it pertained to his injury status, is in "constant contact" with the Yankees medical staff about the "dizziness and fogginess" he's been experiencing, Cashman said.
