A History of Portsmouth NH in 101 Objects Speaker Series Celebrating Portsmouth NH 400th Presents “Hey Lady! What’s Your Story?” on May 30, 2023

PORTSMOUTH — The Portsmouth NH 400 Legacy Project book, A History of Portsmouth NH in 101 Objects, a crowd-sourced compendium of objects and ideas the people of Portsmouth selected, launched a companion Speaker Series in January. The final program “Hey Lady! What’s Your Story?” takes place on Tuesday, May 30 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. The program is free and open to the public, hosted by the Portsmouth Public Library in the Levenson Room.

NOTTINGHAM — Come explore Girl Scouts on Wednesday, May 31, 6 to 7 p.m. at Blaisdell Memorial Library, 129 Stage Road, Nottingham. Can't make it to this event? No worries! We host multiple in-person and virtual sign-up events throughout the year. You can also join anytime online at girlscoutsgwm.org. Walk-ins are welcome.

Paint Night

DOVER — On Wednesday, May 31 at 6:30 p.m. join the Dover Public Library in painting a spring scene with watercolors. All materials will be provided, just show up and paint. We will follow along together with a video demonstrating the requisite technique. All skill levels are welcome, but the general idea is to just to relax and have fun.

Yin Yoga for Adults

DOVER — On Wednesday, May 31 at 7 p.m. join instructor Bridget Harton at the Dover Public Library for a free half hour Yin Yoga class on the library’s front lawn. Wear loose comfortable clothing and bring a yoga mat or a blanket to place on the ground. Space is limited, but registration isn't required.

Scrapbook/Papercrafting Group

DOVER — On Thursday, June 1 at 6 p.m. whether you're a scrapbooker, a paper crafter, a card maker, an origami master, or a quiller, you are welcome to this group at the Dover Public Library. Bring your papercrafting projects and work together with other folks.  We will provide some 12x12 scrapbook paper sheets, some blank kraft paper postcards, scissors and an assortment of washi tape.

Intermediate Excel

DOVER — On Thursday, June 1 at 6 p.m. join the Dover Public Library for Intermediate Excel with Peggy. This class will cover tables, charts and functions. The class size is limited to eight people. Basic computer skills required include keyboard and mouse skills. Sign up needed.

Dover Dems’ Annual Citywide Yard Sale

DOVER —This year’s sale will be held at Veterans Hall, 156 Back River Road, rain or shine. Treasure hunters of all ages and interests will find bargains aplenty at Dover Democrats’ Annual Yard Sale on Saturday, June 3, from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m.

Madbury Church Yard Sale

MADBURY — On Saturday, June 3, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. come find treasures and bargains at the church yard sale, Town Hall Road in Madbury. In conjunction with the Madbury Library's book sale, there will also be activities for the kids and refreshments. Have items to donate? Call 603- 978-9548.

NH Maker Fest

DOVER — Saturday, June 3, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. is the Children’s Museum of New Hampshire’s 11th annual NH Maker Fest in downtown Dover, and the day will be filled with hands-on discovery. The Fest, organized and hosted by the museum, is a gathering of over 30 local Makers of all kinds willing to share what they love to do, and curious visitors who enjoy learning new things. While the Children’s Museum of New Hampshire exhibits will be filled with Makers, there are still a few exhibits open for playtime. Entrance into the Fest is by a suggested $5/person donation, and no reservations are required, but online tickets can be purchased in advance.

Book sale and lawn games

MADBURY — On Saturday, June 3 the Madbury Public Library will have a book sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and lawn games from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be bocce, corn hole, giant jenga, plate spinning, scarves, bubbles, popsicles and more.
