Ye Olde Clock and Gift Shoppe ‘springs’ forward

DALLAS, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Daylight saving time begins at 2:00 a.m. meaning the clocks spring forward an hour.

While most of us have a couple of clocks to reset, a Luzerne County business in the back mountain has a couple hundred!

The change allows for more daylight in the evenings from mid-March to early November.

The task of springing ahead started early at Ye Olde Clock and Gift Shoppe in Dallas.

Staff members are busy changing hundreds of clocks by hand a job they’ve had twice a year since 1968.

“We have about five hundred to a thousand clocks and watches always, and we started resetting them a couple of days ago, and it takes us a couple more days to finish,” said Tom Quinn, owner of Ye Olde Clock and Gift Shoppe.

There are all types of clocks, watches, and items in the store located inside the Dallas shopping center.

You can find something unique almost everywhere you look.

“Most of these clocks are American-made, although we have clocks from all over the world. we have antiques, we have modern clocks, we sell a variety of kinda everything,” says Quinn.

The store has a full-time, dedicated service department. They repair most clocks, watches, pocket watches, and mechanical music boxes.

“If anyone has any questions on how to set their clocks or watches or needs help with their clocks, we’re always here to help,” stated Quinn.

You can find more information on the store on their Facebook page.
