Veteran John James Rohloff, 23, of Richmond, Indiana, a student at Indiana University, was killed in a car crash in front of the Ashbury Holt Farm at the crest of Schneider Hill, 2 miles east of Spencer, near the entrance to McCormick’s Creek State Park in an accident that also injured the driver, Charles Rutan, of Frankfort and another passenger.

Sugar rationing ended.

Parr’s Variety Store reopened in its new location at the corner of Marker and Main streets, Spencer.

Cream producers and their families were invited to a “Quality Cream” program at the Courthouse auditorium where the films Music in Her Method, about butter separation, and That Boy Joe, about caring for equipment and livestock and effective planning, along with ice cream and other refreshments.

Clayton Winders and Sons concrete block manufacturing plant was operational and producing up to 960 blocks a day.
