Measure your ceiling height and bundle up before visiting a local tree farm for a real Christmas tree this holiday season. Various pre-cut and u-cut tree lots around metro Detroit are already welcoming shoppers while supplies last.

Dress warm, wear comfortable shoes and check out the Michigan Christmas Tree Association for directions on how to choose the perfect tree and care for it correctly once it is home.

U-Pick Vendors and Pre-Cut Farms:

Eastern Market - Detroit

  • When: Sunrise - 8 p.m., daily

  • Where: 2934 Russell Street, Detroit, MI 48207. Vendors are set up in the parking lot north of shed five, at the intersection of Russell and Wilkins Street.

  • Multiple vendors available.

  • Other features: Garland, grave blankets, wreaths, porch pots and more available during the Holiday Market.

The Henry Ford Holiday Greens & Tree Lot - Dearborn

  • When: 9:30 a.m. - 5 p.m., daily

  • Where: Clocktower of Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation at 20900 Oakwood Blvd, Dearborn, MI 48124.

  • Tree species: Fresh balsam fir Christmas trees in a variety of sizes are available.

  • Other features: Handmade wreaths, roping, kissing ball decor, assorted green bundles and more available.

North Star Christmas Trees - Westland

  • When: 9 a.m. - 8:30 p.m., daily

Candy Cane Christmas Tree farm has closed the field for cutting for the year, but freshly cut Fraser Fir and Concolor Fir are still available

U-Cut Farms:

The tree farms below provide complimentary saws and wagons or include the materials with the price. Workers will also shake, bale and drill your tree for free, if necessary.
