New Year's Eve In Annapolis: Officials Announce City Dock Party

ANNAPOLIS, MD — Annapolis will ring in 2022 with two New Year's Eve events at Susan Campbell Park on City Dock, city officials have announced.

From 4 to 5:20 p.m. on Dec. 31, the city will host a family-friendly event with bands and a DJ at the park, and fireworks will be set off in the harbor at 5:30 p.m.

A couple hours later, another party will take place at Susan Campbell Park. Beginning at 9 p.m., the party will include a DJ and dancing, and a second fireworks display will go off at midnight.

The Anne Arundel County Department of Health is asking event attendees to get vaccinated or boosted, wear a mask and maintain distance.

Both events will be alcohol-free, and the city is urging anyone who wants to drink to visit an Annapolis bar, restaurant or hotel.

"We want to welcome you to our celebration welcoming the New Year 2022," Mayor Gavin Buckley said in a statement.

Due to the area's increasing COVID-19 case and hospitalization rate, the city won't put up enclosed tents at the park like it's done in the past, officials said in a news release. It won't host an event at Bates Athletic Complex this year, either.

Celebrants should note that there will be no shuttle service to Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium. The city will not implement any parking restrictions on New Year's Eve, though attendees should adhere to all residential parking signs.

Free holiday metered parking is available, but only for three hours (with a bonus hour using code "ParkDTA" in the ParkMobile app), and parking will be available at city garages as well.

A warming bus will be stationed at Market House from 6 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. "if conditions warrant," officials said.

People hoping to take in the fireworks on their boats are urged to anchor early, and are warned to avoid the 1,000-foot safety zone around the fireworks barge covering all of Spa Creek from Susan Campbell Park to the Chart House.
