Yellow Jacket Fulton signs with Peru State

May 1—THOMASVILLE — Thomas County Central football player Ricky Fulton III sat down on Friday morning to sign his letter of intent to play football at the collegiate level for Peru State College. Surrounded by family, friends and coaches and sporting a Peru State shirt and a TCC letterman jacket, the running back signed his letter to become a Bobcat and head west to Peru, Nebraska.

"He's an unbelievable player, I mean, you just watch his film and see what a great running back and how talented he is," said Yellow Jackets Head Coach Justin Rogers. "But, what a lot of people don't get an opportunity to know is just what an unbelievable human being he is. I've been doing this for a long, long time and Ricky is as good a kid as I've ever coached."

On the field, Fulton displayed great versatility in the back field for Central. When running the ball, he has excellent vision and a talent for finding his blockers. Fulton is also an excellent receiver out of the back field, a skill many modern running backs lack.

"He'll be great. They are getting a versatile back," said Rogers. "He's a true back. There's no doubt, he's a running back. It gives you a huge weapon being able and feeling good about throwing to him out of the back field."

Rogers also spoke about Fulton's excellent leadership qualities. Fulton, a leader by example, always showed up ready to work and show his teammates what it took to play the game of football. Though, Fulton was not shy about using his voice either.

"Ricky's not scared to be vocal either," Rogers said. "In this day in society, it's hard for kids to want to be vocal and stand up and hold peers accountable. But, Ricky was always ok with that. He was comfortable in his own skin."

Now, Fulton will exchange his blue and gold for blue and white as he heads up to Nebraska to join Peru State's storied football program. The Bobcats went 6-5 overall last year. Their season will begin on August 26 when they take on Hastings College at home.
