Yellowjackets report: UWS softball sweeps Crown on Senior Day

Apr. 25—Tayler Kraemer and Amanda Kishish earned pitching wins and Tiffany Kirk provided the big hit as Wisconsin-Superior swept Crown College 5-4 and 8-4 in a UMAC softball doubleheader Saturday on Senior Day before 75 at NBC Spartan Sports Complex in Superior.

Kraemer allowed only one earned run on five hits in nine innings as the opener went into extra innings, with Kirk's double scoring Olivia Bancroft-Hart with the game-winning run in the bottom of the ninth. Kirk finished with a pair of RBIs and Bryton Kukowski added two hits and a run.

Kishish relieved Malania Madill in the rematch and didn't allow a run in 3 1/3 innings, yielding three hits and striking out two, while UWS rallied with six runs in the fifth and two more in the sixth.

Kaela Kraemer and Bancroft-Hart both scored a pair of runs, Kukowski and Kaileigh Miller each had two hits and Kirk had a pair of RBIs to lead the Yellowjackets (13-9 overall, 6-4 UMAC). Zeta Brown had two hits and two RBIs to lead the Storm (4-16, 1-11).

'Jackets drop first game of season

Nick Zuchowski scored on a penalty kick and Varney Conneh added another first-half goal as Augsburg handed Wisconsin-Superior its first loss of the season with a 2-0 nonconference victory before 125 at Edor Nelson Field in Minneapolis.

Oscar Herrera needed only one save to earn the shutout for Augsburg (1-3) while Ulrik Lager had four saves for UWS (7-1), which had outscored its previous seven opponents 41-6.
