Breaking Yellowstone news: Deadline has reported that the beloved Western drama could end in the near future. Apparently, the show will end and a spin-off show starring Matthew McConaughey will continue the Dutton family saga, along with stars from the original show—but not Kevin Costner.

Nothing has been confirmed yet, and there's no word on which actors would join the new spin-off alongside McConaughey.

"We have no news to report. Kevin Costner is a big part of Yellowstone and we hope that’s the case for a long time to come. Thanks to the brilliant mind of Taylor Sheridan, we are always working on franchise expansions of this incredible world he has built. Matthew McConaughey is a phenomenal talent with whom we’d love to partner," a Paramount Network spokesperson told Deadline.

Season five of Yellowstone is currently on hiatus; six more episodes are set to premiere during summer 2023 to round out the season. It's now unclear whether or not those episodes will be the last of Yellowstone, but they very well could be.

Per Deadline, "The crux of the issue with the original Yellowstone series involves star Kevin Costner and disagreements over shooting schedules." Cotsner apparently only wants to film for a limited amount of time. The publication adds, "We are told Paramount Network has declined Costner’s most recent proposal and instead has made the decision to move on to the other show, sources said." A new spin-off about the Duttons will join Taylor Sheridan's ever-growing Yellowstone-universe, including prequels 1883 and 1923.
