Get ready, Yellowstone fans. The Dutton family universe is expanding once again. After the fan-favorite original series, the 1883 prequel, and the upcoming 6666 spinoff, it should come as no surprise that creator Taylor Sheridan is looking to further expand the story.
1883 stars Tim McGraw and Faith Hill as James and Margaret Dutton and follows their family as they expand West with the help of Sam Elliott's Shea Brennan. Sadly, 1883 will not be returning. The new series, 1923 (formerly called 1932), will jump a few decades into the future. For this new show, Taylor is taking us back to the days of western expansion, Prohibition, and the Great Depression.
Here's what Paramount+ says about the show's premise: "1923 focuses on the Dutton family's next two generations as they struggle to survive historic drought, lawlessness and Prohibition, and an epidemic of cattle theft; all battled beneath the cloud of Montana's great depression, which preceded the nation by almost a decade."
Taylor revealed some details about the show in a video posted on the Paramount+ Instagram feed. He says, "With Yellowstone, I had built out this backstory of where the Dutton family came from, and with 1932, I chose that moment in time to peek back in because you're seeing the children we've met in 1883 now attempting to raise another generation of Dutton at a time of the Wild West becoming a playground of the elite from the East."
Fans commented to share their excitement about this new series. One wrote, "HO-LY. HELL. I am here for allllll of it!" and another said, "Protect Sheridan at all costs!" One commenter said, "I will watch every minute of every single show he puts out."

Paramount+ released a 30-second teaser for the new show, which shows Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren in action. From the looks of it, the show promises to be just as intense as the original. Helen, as Cara Dutton, says, "Men kill quick with a bullet or a noose, but your fight is with me, and I kill much slower." We'll be on the edge of our seats until December 18.
