Yellowstone season 2 gets CBS premiere date

Yellowstone season 2 has been given a 'premiere' date on CBS.
The Kevin Costner-led drama first aired on cable channel Paramount Network and streamed on Peacock in the US, but due to the lack of fresh programming due to all the Hollywood strikes, it started to air from episode 1 last month on over-the-air channel CBS.
The network has been airing two episodes a week, with the season 1 finale airing last night (October 22), and it is wasting no time getting straight into season 2. The sophomore run of episodes will begin this Sunday, October 29.

A CBS press release (via Variety) reveals that 6.6 million people tuned into the airing of the first episode, with another million watching via catch-up.
Across season 1, 21.6 million people "have tuned in to at least one episode" and the network reckons that over half of these people have never seen an episode of Yellowstone before (or at least, haven't within the last year).
The show's creator Taylor Sheridan recently revealed that he and Kevin Costner had disagreements during the second season over Costner's character John Dutton III.
"What he's clung to is [Dutton’s] commitments to his family and way of life," Sheridan said. "Dutton's big failing is not evolving with the times — not finding different revenue streams [for the ranch]. Kevin felt season 2 was deviating from that, and I don't know that he was wrong. In season 3, we steered back into it."

While CBS is about to start airing season 2, the show itself has released the first part of its fifth season.
The second part, which will bring the series to a close, doesn't have a premiere date at the time of writing.
Yellowstone streams on Peacock in the US, and is being re-run on CBS on Sundays. In the UK, the show can be streamed on Paramount+.
