Yellowstone star Wes Bentley has teased a return to blood and all-out warfare in the the show's anticipated season 5 part 2 episodes.

The actor plays Jamie Dutton on the hit Paramount show, which is known for its high body count turnover. However, Yellowstone season 5 part 1 surprisingly featured significantly less deaths than usual, which Bentley suggests could be a deliberate decision.

In an interview with TV Line, the Yellowstone actor discussed the show's cut-throat action and how viewers might see a return to this in season 5's second instalment.

"The potential is there," he said, ahead of the midseason finale in January. "We've seen what this show can be and how violent this world can be.

"I thought it was really amazing to see the restraint [in the first half of] this season from the violence."

Bentley believes season 5 so far has had "a different kind of intensity" that's not typical of its previous seasons.

"Maybe that's a build-up for some crazy bloodbath at the end, or maybe that tension continues until it explodes in some more compact way," he added, hinting at what viewers can expect next from the show.

The first half of Yellowstone season 5 dropped on Paramount in the US and UK last November, with episodes ending on January 1 this year.

Fans have been eagerly awaiting confirmation of a season 5 part 2 release date, but it looks to be a while away yet.

Filming for the second half of the season was scheduled to take place this summer, but the ongoing Hollywood strikes have delayed production indefinitely.

There is some good news for viewers though, with CBS recently confirming that it will be airing all Yellowstone episodes (from the very beginning) on its network in autumn.

The show is exclusively streamed by Paramount, but CBS has brokered a deal to show two weekly back-to-back episodes of the neo-Western from September.

Yellowstone streams on Peacock in the US, and will be broadcast on CBS from September 17. In the UK, the show can be streamed on Paramount+.
