Minetta Tavern is the second best burger spot in America, according to a comprehensive Yelp rundown published ahead of National Burger Day on May 28.

Of the tavern’s legendary Black Label Burger, the popular food site writes, “The ‘next-level-delicious’ Prime dry-aged beef patty with caramelized onions on a fluffy bun was a favorite of late food critic Anthony Bourdain, and is considered burger royalty by patrons of this Michelin-recommended French restaurant.”

The No. 1 spot on Yelp’s “Top 100 Burger Spots” scorecard went to Fox Bros. Bar-B-Q in Atlanta, Ga., which serves “Texas-style patties” slathered in barbecue sauce.

Yelp said its rankings factored in the “total volume and ratings of reviews” posted by users who mentioned burgers. The list runs the gamut from sushi burgers served by North Carolina’s Cowfish Sushi Burger Bar to plant-based vegan offerings from Arizona’s Green New American Vegetarian. Those burgers ranked sixth and 18th, respectively.

The high-praise that put Minetta Tavern’s Black Label Burger near the top of Yelp’s rundown included one review from a burger connoisseur who said they made a reservation a month in advance to pay $50 after tax and tip for a patty that was “unlike any burger I’ve had before” between a bun that was “perfection.”

Minetta’s Black Label Burger sells for $38 and is served with a side of pommes frites. The historic Greenwich Village staple also offers a $30 burger.

New York City also placed in Yelp’s Top 25 with a pair of mini-chains. Xi’an Famous Foods landed at No. 21 on the list, with 5 Napkin Burger finishing two spots behind. Burger Joint, which calls itself “New York’s #1 no fuss, no muss burger joint,” ranked 30th.
