South Korean soloist Yerin Baek and her band The Volunteers (TVT) dropped a new single Tuesday titled “New Plant.”

In a press release from label Magic Strawberry Sound, “New Plant” is described as “a tale of fame and the illusionary glamor around it, a metaphor for an action of renewing oneself and hence re-establishing oneself to others - a necessary course to take to fill the void felt within.”

The single is also joined by the track “Hypocreep.”

This is the band’s first release of the year since their debut 10-track album in 2021.

Their debut was met with fanfare, snagging the quartet three nominations at the 2022 Korean Music Awards for Artist of the Year, Best Modern Rock Album of the Year and Best Modern Rock Song of the Year. Additionally, their first headlining show, “Join the TVT Club,” sold out for all eight nights. They continued their success this year with another sold out show, “This is TVT Club.”

Formed in 2018, the alt-grunge rock band consisting of Yerin Baek on vocals and guitar; Magic Strawberry Sound artist Cloud as designated band master on production, guitar, bass and keyboard; Jonny on guitar and Chiheon on drums started off uploading demos on SoundCloud before launching their self-produced music video and first single “Violet.”
