YMCA to offer free swim lessons for 2024

BECKLEY, WV (WVNS) — Thanks to a grant and fundraising, the Beckley YMCA will offer free swim lessons for the rest of 2024.

The registration for the swim lessons begins Monday, February 5th for YMCA members, and Monday, February 12th for non-members.

“We’re thrilled to be able to do it, it’s an unprecedented opportunity for kids to learn how to swim and be safe around the water,” said Jay Rist, CEO of YMCA of Southern West Virginia. “We encourage parents to take advantage of it, we’re gonna have free lessons starting in March.”

Lessons will be separated into three groups; parent-child lessons for children 6 months to 36 months, pre-K for children ages 3 to 5, and school age for kids ages 6 to 12.
