Yoga teacher attacks fellow movie-goer who used phone during film, Iowa cops say

A man in Iowa was arrested yesterday after police say he beat up a fellow movie-goer for using a phone during a film back in September.

On Sept. 10, Nicholas Glasgow, 34, was in an Iowa City showing of “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” when he saw something he didn’t like: another patron using a phone, according to an arrest affidavit.

Before the late-night showing, Glasgow — a local yoga teacher — asked theater staff to have a chat with a man who was using a phone, the affidavit said. Police say Glasgow told theater staff they needed “to take care of it or he would.”

When the movie was over, Glasgow approached the man and demanded he apologize for “ruining the film,” police say. While the man was still sitting, Glasgow punched him in the face and a fight ensued, according to the affidavit.

At one point, the man ended up on the ground with Glasgow repeatedly kicking him, police say. The man suffered a cut to his head, swelling and broken eyeglasses, according to the affidavit.

Staff told police that Glasgow is a regular at the theater and comes in most Tuesday nights. Glasgow also describes himself as a “movie theater glutton” on his profile page at a Pilates studio where he teaches.

Glasgow was arrested on Jan. 13 and charged with criminal mischief and assault causing bodily injury, both misdemeanors, according to jail records.
