Yoni steam spa introduces ancient healing method for women to Taunton

TAUNTON — An ancient holistic practice used for many centuries by women all over the world has found a new home in Taunton.

Kundalini Pearls Yoni Steaming Spa is bringing a new experience to the area, one vaginal steam session at a time.

Now you may wonder what a yoni steam is? Well, the answer is simple. It’s a process where a woman sits over a warm pot of water infused with organic herbs to promote vaginal wellness from the steam.

A yoni steam falls into the holistic nonconventional category when it comes to healing your womb.

Djara Hampton and Maria Ramos, the owners of the yoni spa, found progress from doing the steam at their home.

Hampton loved the results but wanted a more relaxing and spa-like experience.

This is where their idea was born.

“Even though it sounds like a new-age healing technique but it’s not. It’s been around for thousands of years. Women from Africa, South Korea and many other regions have practiced this. Even my mom used herbs during her pregnancy to make giving birth easier,” Hampton said.

The two started yoni steaming to find a way to stop their severe menstrual symptoms, such as cramping, back pain, mood swings and heavy bleeding.

“We saw the impact on us and knew we were on to something,” Hampton said.

The spa experience is what you would imagine, a light questionnaire, soft music playing in the background, followed by a guided meditation, refreshments and snacks.

“Some people are looking for alternatives to heal their womb instead of taking medications, having surgeries, they’re looking for a more homeopathic route to heal themselves,” Hampton said.

The owners suggest while steaming to deeply connect with your womb while meditating for an elevated experience.

“The vision is to provide a safe space for the exploration of healing qualities of herbal medicine to alleviate the many health problems associated with a woman’s vaginal and reproductive care,” Ramos said.

Each blend is used for different ailments, including cramps, menopause, womb support, detox, libido and fibroids.

“For me steaming has helped me to reconnect with myself while sending loving and positive energy to my womb. Steaming has been a healthful practice which has been very empowering to me on my personal journey,” Ramos said.

A 30-minute steam with the healing herbs will cost around $45, and a one-hour steam will cost $60 dollars.

Customers can also rent the spa for steaming parties varying in price, but it starts at $275 for a party of five.

“We found the steaming beneficial and thought we needed to open one of our own. We saw other states like California and New York had similar spas but Massachusetts has none,” Hampton said.

If you’re skeptical, the owners suggest taking a chance and seeing for yourself. The results might surprise you, they said.

“You never know until you try it,” Hampton said.
