Inspector's violation comments:

  • The Person in Charge did not demonstrate adequate knowledge of food safety in this food facility as evidenced by this non-compliant inspection.

  • The Person in Charge did not demonstrate adequate knowledge of the PA Food Code as evidenced by incorrect responses to food safety questions. Facility does not have an approved method for warewashing. Operator stated they are not selling ready-to-eat foods, they are giving it away. Operator may not provide food to the general public (for charge or for free) without an approved method of warewashing. Provided training.

  • Food Facility Person in Charge not able to provide documentation about raw whole frozen chicken. 72 pounds of frozen chicken was denatured and discarded.

  • Observed cases of dry foods stored directly on the floor in both storage rooms and break room areas, rather than 6-inches off the floor as required.

  • Waste not being removed from the facility at a frequency to avoid possible rodent/insect harborage. Observed more than a dozen empty boxes in the storage room.

  • Observed more than three dozen fruit-fly-like insects in the storage room. A waste can lined with a trash bag and filled with nuts and slimy water is a haborage/breeding area for insects and should be removed from the facility
