Police in York say they pulled over Stewart and another man, Daniel Thrift, during a routine traffic stop last week. They found meth and marijuana in the car, and that stop eventually led to a search at Stewart’s home. That’s where they found pressed fentanyl pills, meth, and the GHB.

According to the city of York’s website, Stewart is a member of the Board of Architectural Review, which reviews new construction, demolitions, additions, and proposed signage.

The York City Manager told Channel 9′s Tina Terry, “The City is aware of this ongoing matter with Mr. Stewart and has no further comment on the matter at this time.”

In town Thursday, people told Terry they’re waiting to see how the case plays out.

“When you are a public figure and you represent the community, the community is putting its faith and trust in you, so you’re deceiving them by doing these things and making these bad choices,” said Cindy Dobson, a resident in York. “He needs to be held accountable for his actions.”

“A lot of people in authority seem to think they can get away with things, in my opinion,” said Karri Dove.

Stewart told Terry in a phone call late Thursday that the drugs didn’t belong to him. He said when all is said and done, it will be clear that he didn’t do anything wrong.

He says he is considering resigning from the architectural board until his name is cleared.
