York County girl, 12, was badly injured doing TikTok dances. Fundraiser seeks to help

A GoFundMe fundraiser has been set up for Kaiya Wilkins, a 12-year-old girl from West Manchester Township, who is suffering from an internal infection with life-threatening complications after she injured herself while recording TikTok dances.

Wilkins injured her leg while dancing on TikTok with her friends, according to the GoFundMe. Her injury was considered minor by doctors but now she is experiencing complications that are putting her heart, lungs and other vital organs at risk.

She has already undergone one emergency surgery but might need open-heart surgery because of the stress the infection has put on her heart. She has developed pneumonia, and the fluid around her lungs and heart is making it difficult for her to breathe.

She is at risk for heart failure.

Wilkins is looking forward to being outdoors and hunting with her family.

"Anyone that knows Kaiya knows her love for the outdoors," said Kaiya's father, Justin Wilkins, "and she's definitely an outdoors woman and loves spotting for deer in the evenings."

The GoFundMe with the goal of $25,000 was made by Bob Salathe to help pay for medical expenses. The fundraiser has netted more than $30,685, but the family hopes to raise more money for future expenses.
