York County’s new Habitat ReStore now accepting donations

The new Habitat for Humanity ReStore in Yorktown is now accepting drop-off donations.

The Yorktown ReStore is scheduled to open on May 6. It’s the third ReStore operated by Habitat for Humanity Peninsula and Greater Williamsburg and will be located on Route 17 at 4824 George Washington Memorial Highway, next to Langley Federal Credit Union.

“We can use everything,” the store’s manager, Gary McFadden, said in a news release. “We need your donations now so we can have a full store when we open the doors for the first time.”

Donations can be currently dropped off at the Yorktown ReStore from Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. After the grand opening on May 6, hours will change to Monday through Saturday between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Habitat ReStores sell new and gently used furniture, appliances, home accessories, building materials and more to the public at a fraction of the retail price, usually 30-90% off. Habitat ReStores do not accept clothing. For the full list of what can and cannot be donated, visit habitatpgw.org/support-the-restore.

The Habitat ReStore will also pick up residential and business donations free of charge. Appointments can be scheduled on the website at habitatpgw.org or by calling the donation hotline at 757-932-8976.
