York County man hit, killed by vehicle while changing tire identified: Coroner

YORK, S.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — An elderly man who was hit and killed by a vehicle last July 4th while changing his tire has been identified, according to the York County Coroner’s Office.

Authorities said a 2018 Toyota Scion fatally struck Leonard Davis, of Catawba, in the center lane on Old York Highway (S.C. 161) near Paraham Road around 4:15 a.m.

84-year-old Davis was pronounced dead at the scene.

At the time, police did not say the driver was facing charges in the death.

The S.C. Highway Patrol and the Coroner’s Office were investigating the incident.
