York High School Announces Illinois State Scholars

Illinois State Scholars are chosen based on a combination of exemplary ACT or SAT test scores and sixth semester class rank.

ELMHURST, IL — District 205 and York High School have announced that dozens of seniors from the graduating Class of 2019 have been recognized as Illinois State Scholars. The school said Illinois State Scholars represent approximately the top ten percent of high school seniors from 757 high schools across the state. Illinois State Scholars are chosen based on a combination of exemplary ACT or SAT test scores and sixth semester class rank.

“As the Principal of York High School, I continue to be blown away by the talent and commitment of our students across the board," Principal Erin DeLuga said in a release. "Our Illinois State Scholars are no exception. They continue to be shining role models to their peers and I extraordinarily proud of their accomplishments."

This year, more than 21,000 honorees join the other top students who have been honored for their academic achievements since the designation was first introduced in 1958, according to the school.

"We are very proud of all of our students and fortunate that we can offer so many amazing options for students. These young men and women have excelled academically in their areas of interest, and we recognize all the hard work that has gone into this culminating honor," Superintendent Dr. David Moyer said in a release.

Honorees will receive a congratulatory letter from ISAC and a personalized Certificate of Achievement.
