New York man arrested on drug charges

May 7—A New York City man faces drug charges after Lackawanna County detectives say he sold heroin to a confidential informant.

Derrick Anthony Jones Jr., 38, 70 West 115th St., was taken into custody during a traffic stop after he delivered the drugs to the informant during a controlled buy on Jackson Street, detectives said.

Investigators who searched Jones found almost $4,800 in cash in his pockets, detectives said. An additional 16 plastic bags containing suspected heroin were found concealed in his underwear.

Jones was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Joanne Corbett on possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and other charges. He was held in the county prison on $125,000 bail pending a preliminary hearing Thursday at 9 a.m.
