New York Rapper Turns Himself in After Shooting Flamethrower From Atop Moving Public Bus
A New York-based rapper who discharged a flamethrower from atop a moving public bus surrendered to police on Wednesday, local media reported.
According to the New York Daily News, Rapper Dupree G.O.D told reporters as he turned himself in at the 79th Precinct station that the stunt – staged for a music video – was done for the sake of "the art. For the Wu-Tang.”
Drone footage of the incident, which took place in Brooklyn on November 8, went viral after it was shared by the artist on Twitter and Instagram.
Dupree G.O.D said, “Everything was in a safe, controlled environment.”
The rapper was charged with reckless endangerment. The NYPD still has not located the flamethrower, according to reports.
In response to the incident, a spokesperson for the Metropolitan Transportation Authority told the Associated Press that 25 passengers were aboard the vehicle when the incident occurred and were subsequently discharged at the next stop. No injuries were reported.
